Co-Founder

Mr. Hoffman is a co-founder of Discovery Senior Living, a premier regional developer and operator of high-end, rental senior-housing communities established in 2009. Discovery Senior Living’s affiliated entities include Aston Gardens Investors, Discovery Village Investors, Discovery at Home, Discovery Development Group, Discovery Management Group, Discovery Realty, Discovery University, Regency Pointe, The Preserve at Palm-Aire and The Conservatory.

Mr. Hoffman served as Ambassador of the United States of America to the Republic of Portugal from 2005 to 2007.

Prior to his U.S. State Department service, Mr. Hoffman was founder, CEO and Chairman of the Board of WCI Communities, Inc., which under his guidance became a leading community developer, homebuilder and real estate services company serving primary, retirement, and second-home buyers in Florida, Washington, D.C., area, New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.

A graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, Mr. Hoffman served as a fighter pilot during his military career and later earned an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Mr. Hoffman was National Finance Co-Chair for the George W. Bush for President Campaign, Co-Chairman of Finance for the Presidential Inaugural Committee, and National Finance Chairman of the Republican National Committee for 2001 and 2003-2004 and a National Co-Chair for the McCain ’08 Campaign.

His interest and involvement with education, the arts, and business communities span many years. He has taken active leadership roles as chairman of organizations such as the Florida Council for Economic Education, The Florida Arts Council, and the Florida Chamber of Commerce. From 2001 to 2003, he served as Chairman of the Florida Council of 100, a forum of strategic thinkers comprised of the state’s top business leaders. In 2005. Mr. Hoffman was awarded the State’s highest civilian award by the Governor and Secretary of State and was designated a “Great Floridian” for his civic and philanthropic efforts on behalf of the people of Florida.

Hoffman also founded the Tampa Bay Polo Club and was its Chairman for 15 years.

Ambassador Hoffman’s wife Dawn is active in the community, participating and taking leadership roles in various philanthropic organizations. They and their two daughters live in the Tampa, Florida area.
