Discovery Senior Living established Discovery University in 2010 to bring a unique senior educational experience to the communities it serves, and is pleased to bring this concept to Dallas once again.
“Life-long learning greatly benefits the cognitive abilities of the aging population, and Discovery University provides a fun and stimulating lecture series that will give listeners a deeper insight into what is going on in the world while also enjoying engaging activities and thought-provoking group discussions,” said Thomas Harrison, CEO and founder, Discovery Senior Living.
Free and open to the public, Discovery University’s program titled “Lectures on The Modern Middle East” will be led by Professor Philip Leto III, J.D., chairman of the education department at Discovery University. Leto began his career as an attorney in both public and private practices, then followed his passion for researching and communications by becoming a lecturer and educator.
Classes in the Dallas area begin Wednesday, Sept. 23 and run monthly through Dec. 9 at two Conservatory locations, Keller Town Center and Plano. For more information or to RSVP, call 817-337-9026 for Keller or 972-618-6963 for Plano. Participants are encouraged to RSVP two days prior to the class.
Leto’s discussion will examine how the historic “Cradle of Humanity” has become the geopolitical challenge of the 21st Century and will include discussions on the following: ¬ The Creation of the Modern Middle East; ¬The Arab Spring; Iran, the Bomb, Israel and the Middle East; and What Exactly is Sharia Law?
