DISCOVERY VILLAGE AT NAPLES UPDATE – 9/13/17 5PM: We are continuing to work with Bureau of Emergency Services Collier County, and the local power companies to store power to the community. The community is currently running off of a diesel generator to provide services to residents and team members. We have another delivery of diesel fuel that will arrive tonight.

ASTON GARDENS PELICAN MARSH UPDATE – 9/13/17 5PM: We wanted to update you on other areas of the community and services. Leading up to the landfall of Irma, the community took the following actions to secure the safety of residents.

The Clubhouse and Dining Room were closed as no residents were to be outside in harm’s way. Before and immediately after the storm, Aston Gardens team members had been checking on residences and delivering food their apartments around the clock. Food service was only put on hold when winds were too high to secure the safety of our team members. We worked around the clock through rain, wind and debris to continue services to all residents. The clubhouse and dining room will officially open back up Friday Morning. Until then, team members will continue to deliver food door to door.

The elevators in each building where shut down to secure that no one got stuck during a power outrage and to minimize any electrical concerns. All elevators were inspected and turned back on as soon as possible after they were deemed safe. At this time all elevators in all buildings are functioning.

Each Independent Living building has its own generator that powered emergency lighting the entire time until power was restored.

The care and comfort of our residents was our highest concern during this terrible storm and we took every precaution necessary to ensure their safety. Our team members have worked diligently and tirelessly for days as to try to minimize interruptions and will continue to dedicate ourselves until the community is fully restored.

GENERAL UPDATE – 9/8/2017: As of current, there have been no mandatory evacuations in the areas of our communities. All communities have been in review of their Emergency Response Evacuation Plans with head personnel at their communities, as well as regional directors and company management. If a mandatory evacuation is announced, we have already examined, identified and have contacted locations should that need arise. All Florida-based regional directors have been in the field providing hands-on help at each community. We have arranged for additional non-perishable food and water since our plan is to shelter in place, unless otherwise directed by area officials. We have also implemented primary and secondary lines of communication for all communities so we can remain in contact with emergency personnel and area officials. We ask that you please do not call the community directly for updates, as we need to keep these lines open and clear for emergencies. Please utilize Face Book or the communities’ websites for all updates.

UPDATE 9-6-17: Like many of you, we are tracking the storm’s movement and we have already begun implementing our individual community’s County Approved Disaster/Emergency Preparedness Plan. These Emergency Preparedness Plans are specific to each community’s county and emergency management area. We have had continual calls with all of our Florida-based communities. Most preparations are in place already, including such items as; basic needs, food, water, emergency supplies, backup power/generators and fuel. We have been communicating with all residents, as keeping everyone informed is a critical part of this process. Team members are prepared to stay at the communities to ensure the safety of our residents. We will continue to closely monitor this storm and its path, as well as remain in contact with area emergency personnel. At this point in time, we will shelter in place.
